The Role
To strengthen our Research department, we are looking for a highly motivated (Senior) Research Associate to join our Characterization team. In this role, you will support the development and optimization of our AGROBODY™ discovery platform, contributing to the identification and characterization of novel bioactives targeting crop diseases and pests.
This is a hands-on lab-based role with the potential to grow, depending on your skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and perform in vitro and in planta bioassays to evaluate biomolecule activity against plant pathogens.
- Conduct molecular biology experiments (e.g., PCR, cloning, vector assembly) for gene expression analysis.
- Cultivate and maintain fungal and oomycete strains; harvest and prepare spores for bioassays.
- Perform protein characterization and biochemical assays (e.g., SDS-PAGE, enzyme activity assays, ELISA).
- Use microscopy techniques to study plant-pathogen interactions.
- Analyze and report data using statistical tools and in line with company standards.
About You
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology or a related field.
- This position is open to both recent graduates and candidates with 1 to 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with in vitro/in vivo bioassay development (e.g., anti-fungal, pathogenesis, or functional bioassays).
- Skilled in microbial cultivation, particularly fungi and oomycetes.
- Proficient in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, vector cloning, RNA/DNA purification, RT-qPCR).
- Experience with biochemical and protein analysis is a plus.
- Comfortable using microscopy for plant-pathogen studies.
Soft Skills
- Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player with excellent organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
