MACRO LEVEL
Responsible for assuring a friendly welcoming and great atmosphere in the Lounge/ Bar/ Reception area all the times
• The FO Host is responsible for assuring The House of Sandeman (THS) guests have the best experience and for assisting them to take the best advantage of their trip to Oporto
• Responsible and accountable for all FO functions & activities related to guests and necessary coordination with the departments of TIHS and allied areas
• Reports to the FOM and to the Bar Manager on bar related issues.
• Complying whit all food and beverage regulations
• Replaces the FOM on his absence according to task delegation
MICRO LEVEL
• Ensures to perform duties on time and in accordance with TIHS policies and SOPs
• Arrives on time in accordance with the TIHS grooming guideline
• Performs check-ins and check-outs
• Understand and perform principles of auditing, balancing, and closing out accounts
• Inputs reservations into the PMS system and is responsible for any new reservation enquiries after the daily closure of the reservations department
• Answers phones and replies to e-mails
• Collaborates in the organization TIHS events
• Mis-en-place/ preparation needed for guest arrival and departure according to the THIS SOPs
• Ensure that all concerned departments have the guest history information.
• Handle guest requests, complaints, and suggestions and follow through to maximize the service standard and guest satisfaction, as per TIHS SOPs
• Relays guest complaints to the FOM/ TIHS Director without any delay
• Be familiar with the promotions, events and weekly activities calendar at TIHS
• Recommends/ suggests the best activities according to guests’ profile and preferences
• Prepares all types of beverages and snacks as per TIHS Bar Menu including cocktails
• Is responsible for ensuring the good and proper functioning of the Bar area giving support in the front terrace when required
• Manages Receptions stocks providing full reports to the FOM and to the Head Barman (Bar’s stocks)
• Assessing customer preferences and making drink recommendations.
• Deliver checks and collect bill payments
• Cleaning the bar and backbar to maintain a sanitary environment
• Organizing the backbar to streamline drink preparation and inventory
• Suggests new initiatives that focus on enhancing guest experience
• Liaises with engineering to ensure swift response to room maintenance problems

• Bachelor degree in hospitality management or related fields
• Proven experience in a similar role, at least 1 year
• Proactivity and able to work independently
• Good organizational skills

• Have cultural awareness and knows the correct form to address towards guests
• Well-presented and groomed individual with an outgoing and friendly attitude
• Speaks English, besides Portuguese
• Music lover

• Experienced user in the MEWS
• Previous experience in Hostels
• Previous experience as Bartender
• Lives in OPORTO area
• Speaks a third language (French or Spanish)
• Thinks out of the box and look for operational efficiencies
• Knowledge of History and demographical facts about Oporto and Portugal
• Good knowledge of the cultural scene and touristic attractions in Oporto Area
