What is your role?
As a lecturer, you will contribute to the growth of our students towards becoming driven professionals. You will develop new learning content and teaching methods, coach students as part of their learning process, let them learn from your feedback, and evaluate their growth.
Your duties:
- You will take on a teaching rolewithin the course units Clinical Expert 1, Clinical Expert 3, Communicator, and Leader 2.
Within the Clinical Expert modules, your responsibilities will include delivering lectures and practical sessions, as well as serving as an examiner. For the Communicator course unit, your role will encompass lecturing, facilitating practical sessions, and participating in assessment activities. In the Leader 2 unit, you will be involved in both the practical components and the examination process.
These course units are still subject to change during curriculum development.
- You will also assume the role of Career and Internship Coach, supporting students throughout their first year in higher education and preparing them for their initial internship experience. In this capacity, you will provide guidance during the internship period and be responsible for monitoring and evaluating students’ progress and development.
- You will also take on the role of Skills Lab Coach, where you will guide students in developing and refining their technical competencies and clinical reasoning skills through hands-on practice and targeted coaching.
- You encourage and support students to develop themselves and to achieve the desired competencies. You find solutions to deal with diversity within student groups in an international classroom in a results-oriented manner.
- In this new programme, you will explicitly take on the role of curriculum developer, always in line with the vision on education and examination. You will actively contribute to the programme's vision from conceptual and theoretical perspectives. You will integrate the results of (practice-oriented) research into teaching.
- You’ll teach on Campus Zuid. Helena Verheyen, programme manager of Nursing, is your supervisor.
What is your profile?
- You have experience in the field of Nursingor were interprofessionally connected to it. You have an understanding of all the Nursing domains and can use your knowledge and experience to enthuse and motivate students.
- You have teaching experience and/or a strong affinity with higher education. You work evidence-informed and actively contribute to curriculum development.
- You find it important to bring an intercultural perspective and open discourseinto your learning environment (content, attitude and working methods).
- You are convinced of the importance of lifelong learning, and you stay up-to-date with new developments, incorporating them into your teaching methods. Educational innovation and innovative teaching methods are also areas that you will be happy to dive into.
- You can guide students in their learning process by using hands-on methods and a coaching style.
- You can use ICT applicationsto carry out your work effectively. At KdG, we work with the current Office 365 programs, the Canvas digital learning environment and the e-student service digital platform.
In addition, you hold a Master’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery, Healthcare, Social Work or a related Master’s Degree[1]. A pedagogical qualification is not required at the start, but is expected to be achieved within the first 3 years. Above all, a genuine commitment to supporting our students and their future development is essential.
The English-language courses require at least an ERK C1 level. You can prove this with a diploma or certificate. If not, you are prepared to obtain it before the effective start of your teaching assignment (no worries if you can’t prove this yet, we will help you on your way with all the necessary info)[2].
What do we offer you?
- A part-time[3] assignment (50%) as a contractual employee. You start on August 17th 2026, with a contract for one year, with the intention of extending (after positive evaluation).
- As a Master’s degree holder, you are paid a salaryaccording to the pay scale for a lecturer (502). Click here for more information. Please note that useful professional experience outside education may be taken into account to determine your seniority.
